Erdogan Hosts Sudan's Burhan in Ankara

(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, chairman of Sudan's Sovereignty Council, in the capital Ankara on Tuesday for face-to-face talks spanning bilateral relations and a range of pressing regional issues.

According to Türkiye's Communications Directorate, which announced the meeting on Turkish social media platform NSosyal, Erdogan reaffirmed that Ankara remains actively engaged in efforts to halt the ongoing bloodshed in Sudan — a conflict that has triggered one of the world's worst humanitarian crises and displaced millions since fighting erupted in April 2023.

The Turkish president also highlighted the breadth of opportunities he sees for deepening ties between the two nations, stressing that work is actively progressing to strengthen cooperation across key sectors including trade, agriculture, energy and defense — areas Ankara views as cornerstones of a long-term strategic partnership with Khartoum.
