Erdogan, Armenian PM Hold Talks on Normalization Push

(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan spoke by phone Tuesday, covering the trajectory of bilateral ties and pressing regional matters, Türkiye's Communications Directorate confirmed.

At the center of the discussion was the ongoing normalization process between Ankara and Yerevan, with Erdogan signaling forward momentum through concrete economic measures. The normalization process between Ankara and Yerevan is continuing via steps aimed at launching direct trade between the two countries, said Erdogan.

Pashinyan extended personal greetings to the Turkish leader during the exchange, voicing well-wishes to Erdogan for the recent Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha.

The Turkish president reaffirmed his country's broader strategic posture in the region, underlining that Türkiye will always support taking steps in this direction — framing Ankara's role as a consistent driver of peace and stability across its neighborhood.

The call marks the latest diplomatic touchpoint between the two nations as they navigate a historically fraught relationship, with direct trade emerging as a key near-term benchmark for the normalization effort's progress.
